Grand Case is the French side at its best — a single boulevard lined with some of the finest restaurants in the Caribbean, a calm village beach, and behind it a row of smoky lolo BBQ shacks serving ribs and chicken for $12. Two nights here is the perfect way to open the trip: eat well, slow down, and arrive on the French side before crossing to the Dutch for the beach-bar second half.

Grand Case Beach is a 2-minute walk from the hotel — a calm, beautiful arc of sand in the village. Swim, decompress, and absorb the French Caribbean pace. Browse the boulevard and pick your dinner restaurant for the evening.
Walk behind the main boulevard to find the lolos — open-air Caribbean BBQ shacks. Sky's the Limit and Talk of the Town are the most celebrated. They serve from lunch through early evening; grab a Carib ($1) and watch the cooking if you want a snack before dinner.
Grand Case Restaurant Row is your front garden for two nights — make the most of it. For a relaxed, accessible first dinner try Le Cottage (French Creole, lively atmosphere, mid-range) or Sol é Luna (Italian-French fusion on the boulevard, excellent value). This is the finest dinner of the trip. Grand Case Restaurant Row on a Thursday evening is excellent — less hectic than weekends. L'Auberge Gourmande (classic French in a 200-year-old Creole house, tasting menus, the island's most celebrated room) or Le Pressoir (globally sourced ingredients, contemporary French-Caribbean, strong wine list) are the top picks. Reserve 5–7 days ahead — don't leave this to chance. Budget $150–220 for two with wine.

The French capital — waterfront cafés, a lively covered market, and the 1789 Fort Louis on the hill with the best panoramic view on the island. The covered market sells spices, hot sauces, local rum, woven crafts, and fresh produce. Thursday market is particularly good.
If you have energy on move-day morning (Fri Jan 29 before 11am checkout), Cul de Sac Bay — the Pinel Island ferry dock — is just 10 min from Hevea Hotel. Beloved local institution in the Marigot market — garlic shrimp, stew chicken, stew conch, all with rice and peas, plantains, and salad. Cash preferred. If you stop in Marigot on the way back from Orient Bay on Day 2, this is a great late-afternoon snack or early dinner. Very affordable.
A relaxed bar on the Grand Case boulevard, popular for pre-dinner cocktails and aperitifs. Good rum selection, friendly atmosphere, and the ideal spot to settle in before a Grand Case dinner. Happy hour runs roughly 5–7pm.
At the beach end of the boulevard — feet in the sand, cold drinks, watching the water. The most casual option, good for a post-swim afternoon drink before getting ready for dinner. No formal name — look for chairs on the sand near the water.
The best market on the island — local spices (colombo, herbes à tisane), scotch bonnet hot sauces, Creole seasonings, woven crafts, vanilla, and local rum. Thursday is a good market day (Wednesday and Saturday are the biggest). Budget an hour and bring a bag.
